ITA Ohio Valley Regional Tournament Main Draw Singles
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Newcomers Chieko Yamada and Diana Tkachenko of the University of Evansville women's tennis team earned valuable experience over the last two days at the ITA Ohio Regional.
Yamada opened play on Thursday, dropping her match in qualifying singles. In Friday's consolation match, she fell to Victoria Demcenkova of Eastern Kentucky, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 10-3.
Tkachenko lost 6-3, 6-3 to the No. 5 seed Sidney Liggins from Xavier this morning. The two teamed up in doubles on Friday, losing to Western Kentucky by a final of 8-3.
Both will play consolation singles matches tomorrow and a consolation doubles.
"Today was disappointing for both Diana and Chieko because they both had opportunities to win their singles matches, but just couldn't convert in a few critical situations," Aces head coach Jayson Wiseman said. "In doubles all the credit has to go to WKU as they just outplayed us the last 6 games of the doubles match. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow and pick up a few wins in the consolation before we head back to campus."
