The Wyoming tennis team resumed action on Saturday at the Red and Blue Challenge on Friday in Dallas.

“We are playing better doubles and improving daily which is a positive sign,” head coach Dean Clower. “We were up and down in singles which we need to clean up for the spring. It was good to see Milka (Genkova) get a big win in her early career.

In doubles action, the pair of Elisa Koonik and Tessa Van Der Ploeg continued to play strong. They would defeat Elvira Juravliova and Jessica Perez of Loyola Marymount, 6-3, followed by Milka Genkova and Dorottya Jonas with a 6-2 win over Rebekah Anderson and Aleksandra Panchenko of Liberty. The duo of Miranda Talbert and Ana Tkachenko fell to Emily Groeneveld and Mariely Hassey, 7-6.

The Cowgirls had had a tough outing in singles play as only two individuals came away with victories. Koonik defeated Mary Wright of SMU in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4, while Genkova won 7-6, 6-2 over Dasha Sharapova.

Jonas fell to Jessica Perez of LMU, 6-2, 6-1, van Der Ploeg was defeated by Giulia Guidetti, 6-4, 6-2 and Talbert lost to Evangeline Crist, 6-3, 6-0. The final two in action Tkachenko lost to Charline Anselmo, 7-6, 6-2, and Imogen Clews dropped her match, 7-5, 6-4, against Macie Elliott.
